The Zipline Cabo Verde on Sal is located around 6 kilometers from the town of Santa Maria and is an activity for the whole family. Children, teenagers and adults who like fun and adrenaline can experience an indelible memory of their holiday in Cape Verde.

Travelling to the Zipline Cabo Verde

You can travel to the approximately 1000 meter long zipline on Sal yourself, but most guests will book a tour with one of the many local providers. The operator itself also offers pick-up at the hotel. When we were there, the price was €45 per person for adults and €35 for children under 11. If you are travelling there yourself or would like to use the pick-up service from the provider, please register with the operator. The easiest way to do this is via Whatsapp on +238 935 75 51.

After being picked up at your hotel, you will be taken to the south-east coast of the island to the Serra Negra mountain, where the Zipline Cabo Verde is located. The journey alone along the off-road track in a pick-up truck is a dusty adventure. A bottle of water is highly recommended.

The Preparation

Once there, you will be briefed by the experienced crew of Zipline Cabo Verde. There is local food and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Plus, relaxed music and good-humored hosts. Here too, the motto is “no stress” and the friendly guys and girls calmly explain everything you need to know about the flight. This can take a while, especially if you are in a large group.

Everyone has to be weighed, as the rollers of the equipment depend on the weight. You don’t want anyone to break the speed of sound :-). Then it’s a 10-15 minute walk to the top of the mountain. During the ascent with several steps, there are a few places where you can stop and catch your breath. You can enjoy the breathtaking view of the southern part of the island.

The Zipline Adventure

Once you reach the summit, the crew will help you and explain the equipment to you. Then off you go! With a gentle acceleration, you quickly gain height above the steeply sloping mountain. The speed never became uncomfortable for us and we were able to thoroughly enjoy the flight and the fantastic view of the surf and the island of Sal.

My Conclusion about Zipline Cabo Verde

The whole experience was fabulous and well worth the money. The pick up was on time and from start to finish the guys did everything they could to make us feel relaxed, although it was a little nerve wracking. Definitely give it a try, you won’t regret it. I had a tingling feeling in my stomach for hours after the ride (or do you say flight?). After all, it was my first time on a zipline. But certainly not the last time. If it wasn’t so expensive, I would have thought about sliding down again.
